Grrr...

Someone bang my car AGAIN!! This means a consistent record of every car I own kanna bang before... *diao*

Though this time its only paint dropping off... you know what that means? The paint was not original! someone painted it over before... sigh... guess you get 'value for money' lor...

Luckily this time the guy was quite 'on' and called me and arranged the panel beater and all so I just went down today to get the quote. Now just need to wait for the guy to call me once he has paid for the job then I can go down and fix the car... get a new paint job and some stuff done to the bumper... hopefully it would look the same...

3 weeks into buying this car kanna liao. Next time if I buy a brand new car then how? don't drive it out ah?!

Lazy Lazy Lazy!

There are many housekeeping stuff that needs to be done to brokenVase when I migrated over to this sucky server... But I'm too lazy to do.. sigh... Just tried to patch the 'date stamp' loop hole... if you guys haven't notice... brokenVase is in America time now... 12hours behind... that is why all our blogs and comments are off by 12 hours... if I can't fix it... I will just remain as that...

Updates on my busy busy life...

You know when you were young you wish you can quickly grow up... earn money have a life... live an 'exciting' life...

Well... I'm at this stage where I would like to gear shift downward... Usually someone graduates... then finds a job... then gets married... and buy a house... then buys a car... then have children... in whichever order doesn't matter... what I meant to say was that it is usually in serial (one after the other). Imagine mine is like a blender... all stacked on top of each other and hitting the 'blend' switch!

I'm finishing up my masters... just bought a car... looking for a house... working full-time and am married all at once! Time and resources(money) just drains off like the water in the basin... turn on the tap in the morning and straight down to sewage pipe by night...

Gone were the days where we were too lazy to go out and enjoy ourselves and relax... now we have to make it a point to set dates for relaxation so we can destress properly...

Ok it's not really that depressing as it sounds... Its just my whinning that's all... guess there are too many work and school work in my mind... Have to thank Gary for coming and helping me concentrate on his trip more rather than work... good distraction... :P

Ok enuf of updates... back to work... btw... how's the car? look good right :P

I've also been trying to get the new album application running so I can easily upload fotos... currently it's a hassle to upload fotos that's why we seldom do it. hee...

Kisses

no, it is not the little triangular chocolates, nicely wrapped in silver foil paper. i am talking about real human kisses here.

was having my usual walk from myer centre bus station to my office in this cold gloomy thursday morning. i thought winter is not supposed to be due till a couple of weeks later??

anywayz, this morning, i was greeted by many loving couples on my short 7 minutes walk to the office. there were the pecks on the cheeks, the tongue entangling kiss, light fluttery kisses on the lips, the i-am-kissing-you-but-i-am-looking-at-some-other-hot-chick kiss... all sorts of kisses.

there were the husband and wife couples, the boyfriend and girlfriend couple, i am sure there is the husband and the mistress couple, the wife and her lover boy couple. there are the female on female couples and of course, the male on male couples. interesting morning walk huh?

Friendships

was just browsing through the pictures taken during Gary's trip to downunder.was thinking about friends and friendships. usually, one would not think much of it. however, being here for a year now, this issue has been a topic of discussion with mervin. especially when you are in a foreign land, this becomes a very real issue as you don't have the luxury of calling close friends out for a coffee when you need someone to talk to. merv had this group of friends that he called lan friends, coz he always goes to their place for lan gaming sessions. i had a fun time with them when i came over for holidays in october 2003. when i finally moved here, these friends had gone back to singapore. and this is a all too familiar scenerio with a couple of good friends that merv had throughout his stay here.

as i was reading sugin's blog about all the lan gaming sessions and all the trips we have taken together while they were here for studies, i can't help but see the end of this wonderful friendship that we have built over the past year or so. and when they graduate in june this year, they will join the group of 'fun and nice friends that we used to have in brissie' category. and then merv and i would have to start all over again to meet people, make new friends, find common interests etc... sounds sad? but it is a real sad fact of living away from friends you have pretty much known all your life.

solution? i have been searching and discussing with mervin about it for the past year. haven't found one yet.

EXCITED!!!!

excited excited!!! my family is FINALLY coming for a visit. i guess i feel a little daunting for them though becoz it is our first overseas family trip.

it would be my bro's first trip overseas, not considering the ones he took for national service to rockhampton, thailand and taiwan.

it would be my father's first trip overseas, not considering his only business trip to Indonesia million years ago.

it would be my mum's first trip overseas, not considering her only trip to hongkong with her friends million years ago.

and it would be the FIRST family overseas trip.

excited excited....

International Buffet Night

we had an international buffet night on saturday. we had couple of german friends, a dutch girl, a taiwanese chinese, some aussies and of course, singaporeans. it was a potluck night and everyone is supposed to bring a food from his or her own country.

andy made some samosas, cherri made chicken curry, sweet sour pork and kung po chicken. mervin and i made puloh hitam, veggie with oyster sauce, chwee kuey and prata. the dutch girl made dutch pancakes and a salad. and the rest brought beer.

it was a stomach filling night with all sorts of different food and it is pretty nice to have people from different countries sitting around, chatting over interesting food and of course, beer. too bad, mervin did not take a photo of everyone.

Upsetting finish...

didn't make it again for the driving test. but this time round i am pretty disappointed and upset about it. it is the high achiever nature in me. came back after the driving test and cried. sounds silly but it felt as bad as falling my O Levels or A levels. sigh... what to do? try again loh. but will take a break for now and stop thinking about the test. i am so stressed about performing well and passing it until i have been having dreams about the test for the past week. thanks for all your prayers and please continue to keep me in your prayers still.

Singaporeans are Square

had an interesting day on the saturday that just passed. was invited to my scottish colleague's place for a barbie (aussie equivalent of a BBQ). his place used to be an old marketplace (looks a little like a warehouse), with high rooftops and long windows. his place is on the top floor and has the river view and the wonderful breeze. it is like a penthouse with 3 bedrooms and a spacious lounge area that has the highest ceiling that i have seen so far in australia. one of the rooms looks down to the lounge room. it looks like those penthouse that you will see in the movies. the furnishing is absolutely beautiful but of course, the rent is extremely pricey. i think it is 900 bucks a week!! that is about 3600 bucks a month!! OMG!!

but anyway, he invited the audit department to his place for a barbie. my first aussie barbie. very different from the BBQ we always have at our place. i said this to patrick afterwards, (coz mervin and him came to pick me up after the barbie). 'Singapore BBQ, we emphasise on good food. Aussie barbie doesn't need good food, just needs tons and tons of beer.' the food was simple : (overly done) steak, and (burnt) sausages, whereas at home, we have to marinate chicken chops, chicken wings, steaks, lamb chops, sausages, corn, sweet potato..... very different. there were at least 40 bottles of beer that were finished that afternoon (by 8 people) and i, myself, a proclaimed non-beer lover, had 3 bottles in a span of 3 hours.

one of the other colleagues asked me about the lifestyle in singapore. he was once offered a job in singapore but he turned it down becoz he didn't want to join in the rat race. he heard about the working attitudes and conditions in singapore and decided that there is more to life than work.

this bunch of colleagues like to go out on fridays for drinks after work. i never managed to join them even though i would love to tag along sometimes. i told them that i have only been to 1 club in the whole of my stay in brisbane as i didn't know where to go and didn't have the company that would love to go clubbing. they were pretty surprised that i even clubbed in university's days. one colleague commented 'i thought singaporeans are square!'

Bored

it is a friday afternoon and i have been feeling bored at work for a couple of days now.

so far it is a pretty alright place to work in. the people seem nice and a fun bunch.

it is just that the case that i was scheduled to be doing this week was completed earlier than we have expected. and since wednesday, i have nothing to do in the office. the only thing i can do is just clicking the mouse on a IFRS training progam done up by Deloitte. the program is cool and interesting but to be going at it for a couple of days and 8 hours a day can be extremely boring....

oh well, back to the clicking..

The day has finally arrived...

tomolo is my driving test. yes, i am already freaking out now. butterflies in my stomach, lump in my throat, shaking in my limbs....

alright alright.. it is not that bad. but i am feeling a little scared. i mean, am i the only one who feels like that before their first driving test? of course not, right? so i am normal.

anywayz, tomolo is THE day. all you prayer warriors, i need your prayers. thank you very much.

will update you guys and let you know the results

Updates

pretty much, everyone who ought to be back in brisbane are back. greg, sugin, angela, kevin, lynette.

gary came to brisbane for a holiday. everyone tried to surprise us on his visit but mervin and i kinda guessed that it was him that was coming for a visit. as usual, we played tourist guides and showed him (with greg and sugin) around some awesome places. moreton island - dolphin feeding, byron bay - lighthouse, sunshine coast - noosa heads' beautiful beaches.

the lancer died on us while gary was here. mervin said that most probably the 4th cylinder burst or something like that. the car cannot climb hills (and australia IS hilly) and cannot accelerate as it used to before. so now, mervin is frantically hunting for a car and trying to sell off the lancer at the same time.

meanwhile, things are not going too well with greg's car. we sent it in for repairs a couple of weeks before he arrived back in brisbane. the mechanic said that it was going to be ready as soon as he arrived but greg just collected the car yesterday and there is something wrong with the battery. absolutely disappointing.

i am still coping with work and family and housekeeping and everything. it is not easy and can be pretty tiring.

You really going?!
