I'm back!
Wow! I didn't realise that I wrote so much yesterday... Anyway the work at my client's place went well yesterday and I was done by 2pm. I then went back to the hotel and took put my coat and went to the city to walk around for a present for kat. Those work shoes were killing my by the time I bought the present and went back to the hotel by 6...
I had nothing left to do til my flight at 12am... I tried to hang out at the casino having my dinner and looking at all to gambleholics... there were many 'new and interesting ways' to gamble... heads or tails also can be gloryfied for gambling... geez...
I tried my luck at this pokies machine putting in $5.. I end up winning $25+!.... then lost all again within minutes... so much for my 'gambling career'.... Oh and I saw this woman came to the roulette table said... '$100 please' handing the $100 to the man and put the chips on the table... the thing spun... 14 the man shouted and he like broom like that and sweep all the chips down into the bin... poof! $100 gone... Wai lew!
Anyhoo... I got bored... so decided to go to the aiport early as my friend said that there would be a 'virgin blue room' there with entertainment, bathrooms and places to work/sleep (oxymoron)... Went there found out only Sydney, Melbourne and Brissy had such facilities... *bish*... sat at the ghost ariport for 4 hours... wandering around... I went to the toilet to get changed and washed my face... felt a bit like tom hanks in terminal... pulling my luggage ant walking around... trying to sleep between to seats... hahah...
Finally the flight came and I came home... end of story...
That was shorter than I expected... maybe blogging at home makes my lazy... hmmm...

Wah SOOooo Exciting!...
(Title spoken like Dolly in 'Under One Roof')
Ok I feel this imense urge to blog about this trip although it will make me look like a very very green mountain tortise... My very first 'business trip'.
Being a Singaporean-by-nature in me, when you go for a almost all expenses paid trip you naturally feel excited... 'Naturally' (spoken like the firebat from Starcraft)
It all started back at home before the trip... I arranged to drive my car to the garage to get the air-con fixed while I'm gone, so I booked a cab (which cost $30+ to go to the airport... I found out later) to fetch me from the mechanic's place. While waiting to go to the mechanic from home itfelt like my first day at work in dominos... you know you gotta be there at 5 and by 4 you are all done and waiting... it's an oxymoron... you want to go 'cos you're excited however you feel a bit scared 'cos you're afraid you'll stuff up.
So eventually I made it to the mechanic early and had to wait at their sofa for the cab. when that arrived it was quite an uncomfortable ride... the cab driver wasn't that chatty and having not taken cab before here in while (something singaporeans are guilty off as they take it for granted - cabs in SG ARE cheap so don't complain!!) so it was kinda awkward. Being here for a while I realised I tend to chat peeps up quite easily now and so it was funny not to...
Anyway there was no dramas checkin to airport as domestic flight only require photo ID. But there was this nasty man in the airplane that stopped in the isle just to complain to me that I was using my phone to sms. Saying I need to off it on the phone. But the plane not started to move what... wanted to phlog (see navi below) but didn't eventually 'cos he treatened to tell the hostess... so embaressing... sigh... spoilt to first part of the 6hr flight.
As the flight continued I tried reading my 'mechwarrior' storybook and covered half the book! never read so much, so long before. Short attention span  . Couldn't sleep, so in the end found myself looking at the watch and wishing the plane would speed for a bit... not like there is air TP right?! *grin*
When I took the cab to the hotel... it's like PHWAH!! marina manderine ah? it's like 6 star hotel... took some pics... will upload soon so check the photo gallery... I tried my best not to gasp and look 'professional' hard to do dressed with airwalk baggy jeans and pink t-shirt... the guy at the counter asked me if I was here for business or pleasure I tried to say, straight faced, 'business' and he like 'ok'...
The room is like nothing I've seen before... I'll let the photos tell you that...
Running late... I connected to the internet using the company's national dial-up account thru the hotel phone... just finished my breakfast (room service!) eggs benedict and into my 3rd cup of coffee (it came in a flask!)... need to change into my suit *grin* and go to the client's place liao... client's Honeywell.
Oh and did I mention that the hotel is part of the Casino here? ok gtg...

Go... don't go... go... don't go... sigh!
I still haven't went for my 'business trip' yet... But I am confirm going this monday to perth.
The trip is as Kat describes it... exciting... yet a bit daunting for me. It's my first 'big break' in my career... to get a chance to move forward. It feels like taking an exam where you performance is graded... Sigh... I know peeps will be praying for me and I wouldn't really stuff up that much. it's just installing our product and testing it... It's more about meeting peeps there and socialising I guess...
Need to go church... later!

Mum's coming...
My mum's coming with my aunty and uncle and cousin... We are kinda excited that they are coming... guess we just wanted to 'show off' this little 'world' we made for ourselves 7000++ kms away from Singapore.
I've always liked it when peeps visit from SG... I get to play host and tour guide... Guess its kinda like 'I know stuff you don't know' kindoff ego boosting feeling...
It's also good 'cos then we get the ''import' more stuff from SG! Yaye! New tefal pan... thermal cooker, hmm... how come all cooking stuff... *bish*... ok.. pirated....
I'm going...
... to Perth!! to bad Ah moi is no longer there... wonder who else is there... anybody's friend's relative's dog's son's uncle's mother I know? please intro leh...
I'm going there for my first business trip... feel like a mountain tortise... 'huh? what frequent flyer card' I asked my boss when he asked me if I had one... haha... I was also officially dubbed as a technical consultant... hmm.. sounds cools eh...

Punk Rock and old people
Just yesterday when I was walking under the hot sun to lunch, I saw this 'rock chick' with her lips pierced, tattoos and with gothic clothes and makeup. She worked at this cafe and was talking to this old couple who were waiting for a bus. They looked joyful and friendly to each other...
I think you will never see such things in Singapore, with all the pre-defined taboos and frowns people have on the queerest things. Like wearing sandles to church  tsk... tsk... But seriously, looking at the old people here, they are so much different from the peeps I see in Singapore. Here they congregate, go out have fun and are generally nice and cheerful... In Singapore, the old people are like a decaying comunity... people find them bothersome and they always look weary and sad.
I remember just this June when I went back to Singapore and visited my granny, I really wanted to strike a conversation with her but soon ran out for words... And as I looked at her and her eyes, I almost wanted to tear.... She has this permanent sad look on her face and I could just see from her eyes that she is really really lonely and feel dejected...
sigh... I know that even if I were to somehow bring her here it wouldn't do much... 'cos she is already 'infested' with Singaporeanism...

Bitter sweet sorrow
I'm climbing the 'ladder' in dominos. Now I get to be part of the close-up team on sat. Work from 6:30 - 1.30am... Seems like an advance thing to be doing. But finish so late! Sigh... Could it be that they think I'm capable? Phone training, close-up shift in less than 2months? Hmmm...

Events after events
Mervin's mum and relatives are on the plane ride here from singapore as we speak. and we will be off to gold coast for a couple of days showing them around....
merv n i were helping greg, sugin and angela move their things to national storage yesterday and also cleaning their place for the management inspection today. tiring.... suddenly felt lao liao...
and on saturday they are on the way back home to sunny and hot singapore. to an extent i kinda miss the places back home. the coffee places i always hang out, the shopping malls, the food, the friends and my family.

Perth
did you know that Perth is further away from Brisbane than Singapore is from Brisbane? i didn't realise that until mervin got the business trip itinerary. the flight to perth takes 6 hours and the time difference between perth and brisbane is 2.5 hrs. and of coz, the fare is almost the same as flying back to singapore.
as i type this entry, he is on his way to the airport. i missed him already...

Exams
exams.. such a dreadful word.
there are much for me to study and so much other things to do at the side. there is gym, driving lessons.... lazying around... and more lazying around.
been feeling easily tired and having headaches very often. no, i am not expecting...
need to study soon...i guess this might be the last semester that i am studying as a full time student. so must get good results.

Excited?...Not Excited?... Excited?... Not Excited?
i am excited and not excited...
merv is going to canberra tomolo night and i will be here all alone... boo hoo hoo.... but it is ok. some time on my own...
he is also going perth next week...
we are going to watch Mama Mia!!! finally!! when i came to brisbane for the first time, mama mia was showing. i wanted to go watch but in the end, we didn't make it. and merv went to watch it with his friends here. i was so sad. but it is coming back to brisbane for the last run. and he bought tickets already. we are watching it in december. everyone expects a sold out on this musical. merv bought the audio cd when he went to watch it and i know the songs even before i watch the actual musicial.

Christmas
it seems like it is still pretty early to talk about christmas.
i have to walk through myer at indooroopilly to get to the gym or the bus stop or woolies. and myer is already having the christmas decorations and the trees and the music playing.
it reminds me of tangs' christmas sale. it reminds me of the carolling sessions that we used to do at the shopping centres. i missed those sessions. this is my first time spending christmas here. i wonder if they have carolling sessions as well in the shopping centres.

Morris
ok, i have never mentioned this yet but i have got a really sweet (no, i didn't lick it) present from mervin. he bought me a 1968 morris. thanks, sweetie. (check out the pictures in the gallery)
it was Eugene's car and i absolutely adores it when he was driving it. he decided to leave oz land and had to sell it cheaply. but the catch was it was not working properly. there was something wrong with the engine.
since eugene left, it had been parked on the streets, braving the elements of nature. so we had to tow it to our place and keep it in the garage first.
the morris is already deregistered so the management wants us to cover it with a car cover.
the morris is pretty neat. it has leather bench-type of seats which you can't really find them in singapore. the steering wheel is almost as big as the buses kind. and the gear is like those gears in the pickups and lorries in singapore.
but sadly, it does look like it is falling apart. i mean, it is really old. merv's mum calls it a piece of junk metal. ha haha... well, almost there. it is my responsibility to get it back in shape. so when i start to work, i will have to save up to fix the car and register it under my name.
right now, i should work towards getting my driver's license first.

i need a new knee implant
i went for my 2nd driving lesson today... woohoo...
but my knee came home, aching like anything...ouch... robbie (my instructor) said that by the end of these lessons, i need a new knee implant.
anyway, we are going go karting tonight. with rufus, shing, shawn, hsu, gin, greg, myself and mervin... should be fun.

White Gardenia
i always love to read. but i stopped when i went to NTU to do my undergrad. i know that when i pick up a book, i won't put it down until i have finished reading it. so i decided that it will 'hinder' my studies. oh well, i shall not comment on whether that 'sacrifice' was needed or not. history is history...
anyway, i picked up a book at borders on tuesday. White Gardenia by Belinda Alexandra. it was 5 bucks because it was some aussie goverment promotion on aussie writers. and i have problems putting it down since.
i missed reading. it is one of the luxury in life. just like spending quiet moments at a deserted beach. but i am too far away from any beach right now. in singapore, at least, i can take a bus ride to east coast or the mrt to sentosa.

present
i have gotten a present from singapore. was very surprised and extremely excited.. i thought maybe mervin sent me a love letter and flew it from singapore back to australia... nay, just joking.
belinda sent mervin and i small chinese paper lanterns. those that you play when you are young. i always prefer these to the hello kitty, superman, spiderman (i bet this year they have the Shrek one too) lanterns. these are more authentic. anywayz, thank you so much, be. it was really very sweet of you.
i finally completed my assignment and handed in on tuesday. went for a blood test and a chest x-ray on wednesday for my PR application. and walked from the city to fortitude valley (chinatown) where my PR agent is and handed some stuff to her and head back to meet mervin to go home. that was a lot of walking yesterday.

i thought it was like 30% or something... but 40%!!!
it is a 3500 word essay and i am not even done yet and i have 3800 words!! OMG!!! it is 40%!!!

Driving
i finally went for the first driving lesson after 6 months from getting my learner's license. my instructor is robbie who owns a nice looking mazda 3, which is so unlike of those other driving school cars.
the first lesson is alright lah. just 1 hour of steering and going round and round. pretty cool huh? duh....
was thinking if i can go for the driving test just after 10 lessons? hmmm....i wonder...

it is assignment time. i have been sitting in front of my laptop for the past 5 hours now and have only produce 600 words. and the whole essay is supposed to be 3500 words. and i want to get a 6 or a 7.
i am greedy. i want my cake and eat it.

i think there is a big fat worm in my desktop. it kept causing the advertisement windows for virus protection software to pop by and irritate the hell out of me. IRRITATING...
